Shoplifting Increase
I've seen several articles in the paper, including one in USA Today, that talk about how shoplifting is on the rise as a result of economic conditions.
Shoplifting on rise in SW Florida as economic woes linger : Business : Naples Daily News Do you think the increase in shoplifting is real or perceived? Do you think it's a result of the economy or part of the normal cycle? Are stores in more economically depressed regions of the country seeing higher levels of shrink and employee theft than stores in less economically challenged areas? One thing I have noticed is an increase in small dollar cash thefts by employees, with the reason given for the thefts being the employee needed gas money.

I've actually seen a big increase in identity theft/credit fraud cases this year with an abnormally high amount of the subjects being related to the victims.
Organized refund artists have all but disappeared. Employee theft and shoplifting incidents have decreased somewhat. |
