Three Strikes Policy
http://www.csmonitor.com/2003/0306/p01s02-usju.html
This is a Christian Science Monitor article about those two guys in California who had the third strike against them for shoplifting. One stole videos and the other golf clubs. You know, I am having a little trouble with the fact that some people are up in arms over the harsh sentences. Are these two guys just unlucky and got caught on their first time?? Hardly. How much have stores eaten by these two clowns before they got caught? If they were stealing food to feed a family in need, then I might feel differently. The guy that stole the videos was feeding his heroin habit. |

I belive more states should go to the Three Strikes Policy, but looking at it from a political and business side it would cost the tax payers more money because the prison population would increase.

Three Strikes, Your Out!
That's right LPL. It would cost a lot of tax funds. Especially in California, where it is listed by the Guiness Book of World Records as the state with the most convicted prison inmates in the entire industrialized world. It costs an average of $600,000 per inmate that is serving a life sentence.
I have caught many third strike violaters/offenders and boy do they put up a fight. They unleash the beast within to try to get away. They also face extra charges on aggravated (strong-arm) robbery, assault and battery, etc Then they face 20 or 25 years to life for a petty theft. It is sad but true. losspreventionexpert@consultant.com |
